The Importance of Inclusion
As a society, we’ve made significant progress in recognising and embracing the rights of same-sex couples. But unfortunately, many still face unique challenges and biases when it comes to their wedding planning and celebration. As a wedding and elopement photographer, I believe that every couple deserves the same level of respect, understanding, and support – regardless of their gender or sexual orientation. Love is love, and I’m all for it.

I know that planning a wedding can be overwhelming, and for same-sex couples, there may be additional concerns and stressors. Here are some common pain points I’ve encountered:
- You may feel like you’re not “traditional” or “normal” enough: Same-sex couples often feel like they’re deviating from the norm, and that their love isn’t recognised or valued. I want to assure you that your love is just as beautiful and valid as anyone else’s.
- Difficulty finding vendors who understand and support their relationship: Some vendors may not be comfortable or familiar with same-sex weddings, which can make planning a stressful and isolating experience. I’m here to tell you that I’m committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all couples.
- Fear of being judged or rejected: Unfortunately, some same-sex couples may still face discrimination or prejudice from friends, family, or even vendors. As a wedding and elopement photographer, I promise to be respectful, empathetic, and professional throughout the entire process.
Desires: Creating a Unique Experience
Every couple has their own unique desires and preferences when it comes to their wedding or elopement. For same-sex couples, this may include:
- Incorporating personal elements that reflect their love story or shared interests
- Having a more intimate or low-key celebration with family and friends
- Incorporating special rituals or ceremonies that honour their relationship
- Wanting to invest more into their experience, and include special elements to them like a romantic boat ride, helicopter, or some sort of activity into your multi day elopement.
- Feeling like they’re being seen and celebrated for who they are by everyone including their vendors
